Basic Race Day Checklist

One of the most common questions I get asked is, “What should I bring on Race Day?” The simple answer is you and your running shoes. Although you don’t really need anything beyond that, here is a more extensive list that may be helpful of what to bring before, during, and after the race.

  • Before / During Race:

    • Directions to Parking
    • Drop Bag / Gear Check Locations
    • Copy / Review of Race Course
    • Race Start Time
    • Planned Regroup Location
    • Warm-Up Clothes
    • Race Number Belt or Safety Pins
    • Racing Outfit
    • Shoes and Gaiters
    • Socks
    • Watch and / or Heart Rate Monitor
    • Nutrition
    • Hydration and Hydration System
    • Sunglasses
    • Hat / Visor
    • Gloves / Arm Warmers (Winter) or Arm Coolers / Sun guards (Summer)
    • Anti-Chafe Gear (i.e. Body Glide, 2Toms Sport Shield)
    • Sunblock
    • Bug Spray
    • Trekking Poles (if permitted)
  • Post Race:
